Hi, I’m Laura, the founder of Sunshine State Scholars.

I’ve spent my career in education, most recently as principal of a K–12 charter school, and I hold a master’s degree in educational leadership. As a principal, I worked with students at every grade level, from kindergartners learning to read to seniors preparing for graduation. I saw firsthand what helps students succeed: patience, clear explanations, and someone who believes in them.

I started Sunshine State Scholars to give students the kind of one-on-one attention that’s hard to find in a busy classroom. Every child learns differently, so I take time to understand how your student thinks, where they’re getting stuck, and what motivates them. Then I build each session around their needs, whether that’s catching up, keeping up, or getting ahead.

My background as a school leader also means I understand the bigger picture: Florida standards, how schools assess progress, and how to communicate with teachers. I work as a partner with parents, keeping you updated on your child’s progress every step of the way.
